Baltimore Silent Auction NNF Fundraiser Bigger and Better than Ever!
A special thank you to every Chapter, organization, and individual who made the Baltimore NNF Silent Auction the place to be and place to bid in the Exhibit Hall. A full 30% increase in baskets helped to make this the most successful Silent Auction in NNF history.

AANN Chapters hit Bronze, Silver & Platinum
AANN Chapters make donations to the NNF. The Twin Cities Chapter, the Upper Mississippi Basin Chapter and at the Platinum Level of $500 or more, the Rocky Mtn. Chapter, made donations to the Foundation to advance the research, education and career opportunities for Neuroscience Nurses. All three organizations deserve a BIG Thank You from neuro-nurses everywhere.

You give me fever - I give you research
This year's Neuroscience Nursing Foundation Special Lecturer at the AANN Annual Meeting was DaiWai M. Olson, PhD, RN, CCRN.Dr Olson addressed the growing body of knowledge related to temperature modulation in the neuroscience population. Initially used in patients with traumatic brain injury, study has expanded to other populations, including in patients post cardiac arrest, those with ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke, and in the pediatric population. As our understanding of the impact of fever on brain recovery grows, use of interventions to maintain normothermia or induce hypothermia has expanded. Dr Olson provided an in-depth look at the history of hypothermia as a treatment modality, and provided us with a better understanding of its effects on the central nervous system, discuss current trends in the scientific literature and their effect on the practice of the neuroscience nurse. This 4 year project was supported by the Neuroscience Nursing Foundation with a grant from the Integra Foundation.
